06.21 Revit Project - Video Part 18 - (Sheets)

In this next video we start to make the sheets and add the views to them, we look at
- New sheets
- Adding view to sheet
- Updating 'Scope boxes' to suit the sheet/view dimensions
- Sheet numbers
- Creating a 'Sheet Index' or 'Sheet list',
- Creating a custom Parameter for the sheet issues column in the 'Sheet index' 
- We talk about the view number on the sheet and its relationship to its Tag

06.20 Revit Project - Video Part 17- (3D Views and Workset Checking)

In this video we
- Create several 3D views (isometric, copy of the default 3d view) and apply the 'oriantate to view' setting which will match the 3D view to the cuts of all the sections and plans.
- We also create a workset checking 3D view for the BIM manager to double check the model to see all model elements are on the right workset using the 'Visibility Graphics' (VG) settings

06.19 Revit Project - Video Part 16- (Views organisation)

In the next 2 weeks i plan to post a video every 2 days to finish out this chapter up to the start of the rendering posts.

This video is the views organisation, we will
- Remake all the sections and pick certain positions,
- Duplicate the plans for printing views,
- Create a custom parameter to organise our browser
- Create a Scope Box
- Hiding Ref planes in view

06.18 Revit Project - Video Part 15- (Rooms and Furniture)

Finally the last video for the Modelling stage of this chapter, after this we start on annotation videos which will be much shorter. I did originally thought i could get this far in about 6-7 videos but it took me 15 instead. In about 6-8 weeks I'll return to individual details again

The last few things we do in this video are place the rooms, furniture and plumbing fixtures, we also model the balcony floors and some floors around the basement/ground level area.

06.17 Revit Project - Video Part 14- (Lift & Stairs blocks)

In this next video post we build the Lift and Stair core for access to the apartments.


We’ll quickly model
- New reference planes to set everything out
- New externals walls
- Internal wall to host the lift
- Place the Lift component
- Model ground bearing slab and suspended slab on upper level
- Extend the Foundations
- Cut back the existing road and external walkway slab and railing.
- Modeled a new curved roof and gutters
- Place a couple of doors
- Model a new stair and rail
- Join and tidy any columns and other junctions


Only one more modeling stage video after this before we move to the annotation stage videos.

06.16 Revit Project - Video Part 13 (Doors and windows)

What a difference a few windows and doors make, below is an image of each door and window family used.
Note: I like to rename my door names to include the type number in their name, There are a few thing i do to the windows such as change the Offset from External Parameter to an Instance type, i delete the architraves from the doors etc.

Sorry i think i say the wrong dimensions a few times in the video, i think i mixed up 48" and 84" a couple of times

06.15 Revit Project - Video Part 12- (Stairs)

Above is stair type 1- The typical riser and thread with the upper floor acting as the last step

Above is stair type 2 - The monolithic solid concrete stairs

So in this video i model 2 different kinds of stairs,

The first is the typical thread and riser type, note i always have selected in the type properties ' end with riser' this always uses the floor as the last step which i like, the other thing is you always need to setout a reference plane for the start of the 1st step and also one for the exact center of the stairs otherwise it does not snap to any sensible point(i wish stairs could be left or right justified not just center justified). Point to note, for advanced modelers it is important to close all the gaps such as the side of the floor around the stair opening, the ceiling bulkhead in the larger room to the north etc. see video for process to close these gaps.

The second stairs is a monolithic concrete stairs, apologies for the confusion in the video but i forgot to model the floor finish in the lower retail unit so the stairs appears not to fit quite correctly but it does.
